EMILY LOU – Director/Producer
Emily Lou is a native Californian. She began her directing career at San Francisco State University where she won the coveted Jules Irving award for “Excellence in Direction”. She directed the World Premiere of Roy Conboy’s “Ride my Coche” at Teatro Esperanza, which later moved to the Mark Taper Forum. Her work has been seen at the Magic Theatre, the SF Fringe Festival, and the honored Yale Summer Cabaret for which she partnered with award-winning playwright Marcus Gardley. “The Selling” is her first feature film. When Emily’s not directing, she can be found peddling fruits and nuts from her family farm by the container load. She also enjoys running marathons and running after her very active preschooler.
GABRIEL DIANI – Writer/Producer
Gabriel Diani studied Theater Arts/Creative Writing at San Francisco State where he became a founding member of the sketch comedy group “Totally False People” and won the Best of the Fringe and Best Solo Male Comedy Performer awards at the San Francisco Fringe Theater Festival for his one-person show “God Complex.” He moved to Los Angeles where he became one half of the comedy duo “Diani & Devine.” He wrote, directed, and produced the short film “Girl’s Night Out,” a mockumentary about a lonely young woman who goes to a grocery store in search of true love. The film was featured on the front page of Youtube, Youtube Australia, and Youtube New Zealand, has gotten over 1.2 million hits, and spawned a web series entitled “Mary Olson.” He is also a member of the Antaeus Theater Company’s A2 Ensemble.
Matthias Schubert – Director of Photography
Matthias Schubert is a professional cinematographer with more than ten years experience in all film and video formats. He received his MFA degree in Filmmaking from the Ohio University School of Film where he also taught undergraduate film production. His graduate short films “Sojourn,” “Delivered” and “The Awakening” played in more than 70 festivals around the world, garnering many awards along the way, including 1st Place at the Lucania Film Festival and Toronto Online Film Fest. Since moving to Los Angeles eight years ago, Matthias has shot a wide range of independent and commercial projects, including ten feature films and dozens of shorts and music videos. Most recently he shot the horror-thriller “Raven,” starring Roland Kickinger (“Terminator Salvation”) and Steven Bauer (“Scarface,” “Traffic”). Last year Matthias shot three features for Gruntworks Entertainment, including the suspense-thriller “Jack Rio” starring Matthew Borlenghi (“The Crew,” “The Bold and the Beautiful”), James Patrick Stewart (“90210,” “The Closer,” “CSI”) and Mary Kate Schellhardt (“Apollo 13,” “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?”). Among his other credits are the retro horror movie “Frankenstein vs. the Creature From Blood Cove” (1st Place winner of the 2006 World Horror Fest), “The Billy Armstrong Situation” and two music videos for Karmandan (featuring Erwin Khachikian, keyboardist for Serj Tankian’s solo albums).
Chad Meserve – Editor
Chad Meserve is an editor with a gift for comedy and has been involved in many comedic indie shorts and features. His award winning stop motion short “Rex & Red” has played at numerous festivals in the United States as well as Spain and the UK. Previously he worked with Gabriel Diani on the animated “Super Team Manateam.” He also edited Diani & Devine’s hit internet short film “Girl’s Night Out,” and is an ongoing collaborator with the series.
